Western novel

[edit]

The article is mostly about the Western European tradition of the novel. I, therefore, suggest that the discussion of Asian novels needs to be expanded, or the title changed. Rwood128 (talk) 16:40, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Novella

[edit]

Since the lead mentions 'novella' as the word from which 'novel' derives, perhaps a wiki-link should be included for novella OliviaMcG (talk) 21:06, 24 September 2024 (UTC).[reply]

It is linked, when the relevant meaning comes up. Johnbod (talk) 00:53, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for clarifying! OliviaMcG (talk) 17:37, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Confusion

[edit]

Regarding this edit [1] - it is incorrect. The title I added to the "See also" section does not exist anywhere in this article.

After more searching with the find function, I believe this other editor is confusing the title that I added with Lucan's "True Story, " which is linked in the sub-section entitled "Early novels." Also, this link to Lucan's novel or novella is wrong. The actual title of Lucan's book is "A True Story", not "True Story," please see that article page. Additionally, someone created a piped link to "True Story", which again, is inaccurate. Hence, this needs to be fixed.

So, in a nutshell, the title that I added was "The True Story of the Novel, which is a scholarly nonfiction book that critiques the history of the novel as it stood in 1996 and probably as that history still stands today. And Lucan's book is fiction and a satire. These are very different works. ---Regards, Steve Quinn (talk) 00:56, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There is a link to to the actual text on Internet Archive. See footnote to Doody in the lede. Rwood128 (talk) 01:53, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also I do not know why an article on the book was created, when there is only a stub for Doody. It needs to be deleted.Rwood128 (talk) 01:57, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

:::Go ahead and try to delete it. See what happens. Also, that is obviously not a wiki link. Thanks. Steve Quinn (talk) 03:25, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I see the link to the Internet Archive, no problem. And since this title is already in the article there is no need for it in the "See also" section. I'm not going to argue or edit war. But, I am not sure what you mean about deleting an article? Or is it about deleting the wiki link to that article? In any case, I don't want to create animosity, which is why I did a strike-thru above. It is good that you and other editors care about articles on Wikipedia. So, do I. - Regards, Steve Quinn (talk) 13:00, 21 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
